Haul- Forever 21 and Kohl's

Hello fashionistas!
I went shopping with my best friends the other day and picked up a few things. My mom went to Kohl's today and bought me two things.

My mom bought me this jacket from Kohl's because over spring break my dad and I are going to New York City and I'm going to need a real coat. It's a fancy peacoat! It looks way better on than it does on the hanger.

Button detail shot, the buttons have anchors on them.

Mom also picked this up for me. I had tried this on a few months ago, but hadn't bought it because it was sort of expensive. As you all know I love sheer tops and pussybows, plus the magenta color makes it a total Savannah shirt!

Detail shot.

This is from Forever 21. I love the color and when I wear it it's very drape-y and flow-y.

Rhinestone detail shot.

I bought a bunch of earrings. I've been sticking with studs for awhile, so I'm branching back out into big, statement earrings. I also bought this ring because it was on sale and the purple top was a sale item, so I got the ring for free.

Again, from Forever 21. It's a very long, seed bead necklace. I can think of a multitude of ways to tie and wear this!

I have a discount code for you all to use at Kohls.
If you all sign up for Kohl's sale alerts here, you all will receive $5 off of your next in-store purchase and 10% off of your next online purchase!

Hope you enjoyed my haul!
I'm snuggled up with my mom watching a movie right now.
I'm going to be putting up my Christmas presents either tomorrow or the next day.

Loads of love!

Milani Lipstick Review on "Sexy Rose"

Hello fashionistas!
Sorry for not blogging since Monday, I've been super busy having fun with friends and family.
Yesterday I did a little shopping with my two best friends, I'll have a small haul to go up tomorrow.
I'm also going to start photographing all of my Christmas presents to go up on here.

I wanted to show you all my new favorite lipstick! It's by Milani and it is called "Sexy Rose."
It's a creamy, smooth, frosty lipstick. I'm not normally a frost kind of gal, but this is such a beautiful, opaque color! A berry with fuschia undertones that work perfectly for winter.

You all definitely need to go check out this lipstick. Oh, and the best part is the drugstore price tag! Under 5 dollars, can I get a woo-hoo?!

*This review was not a sponsored review, I just wanted to tell you all about my lipstick love!

Face
 MAC matte creme
Benefit Boi-ing Concealer

Makeup Collection & Storage

Hello fashionistas!
I'm pre-writing this post because when you're reading it I will be out of town. A short trip, 2 days, to see my mom's extended family and their families.

I decided it would be a perfect time to do my makeup storage/collection.
My makeup collection is always growing and I imagine after Christmas it will have grown more, but as of now the 21st of December, this is how it is.

I searched and searched for a desk that would provide me with a surplus amount of storage and room on top for my makeup mirror. I finally found this desk on Amazon. It was made for me!
The drawers are very deep and there are four of them which allows me to store all of my makeup in!

In my bottom drawer I hold my bigger palettes and I also hold extra school supplies (not pictured).

In the third from the bottom I hold all of my face products. I'm kind of a big concealer junkie, as if you can't tell that from this picture! The weird thing sticking straight up with brown bristles is a translucent setting powder with a brush on top. The moisturizer in here is just in case I need a bit more so I don't have to go into my bathroom. This one is almost empty.

This is in the same drawer. I hold all my bronzers and blushers in here. I also hold a few backups of bronzers in here.

In the next drawer I hold all of my eyeshadows in it. This box has all of my neutrals. My beloved Naked palette, MAC Melon pigment, and Stila's Kitten are my favorites. In the elf elements compact I hold my MAC pan eyeshadows.

This box holds all of my colorful eyeshadows. I'm a big fan of purple shadows.

My top drawer holds primers, eyeliners, mascaras, lipsticks, and lipglosses.

For my birthday I got these two boxes decorated with shoes and rhinestones. I thought they would be perfect to store my lip products. I'm thinking of doing a lipstick swatch post.

I'm a crazy lipgloss addict. This box is pretty deep, these lipglosses are stacked upon each other! My personal favorite lipgloss brand is CO. Bigelow. Although I recently purchased Covergirl's Wetslicks lipgloss in 'Red Riot'. I love the subtle red color it gives.
I also store the few lipliners I have in the box. They wouldn't fit in my lipstick box. The Stila liners are great!

I keep all of my brushes in a pencil/pen divider that I bought when I bought my school supplies. I have my face brushes in one section, eye brushes in another, and defining tools/lip brushes/eyebrow spoolies in the other. I have to stick some face brushes in the eye sections because they are so big.

I hope you all enjoyed seeing my makeup collection. I'm thinking I'll definitely be swatching my lipsticks for you. They are the latest thing that I've gotten into.

Lots of love!

Baking and Cooking, Cooking and Baking

With Christmas just a mere day away, I thought I would share some delicious recipes my cousin, sister, Nana, and I all tested out last weekend. We had such a good cousin's weekend with our Nana. Nana, thank you for letting us make a mess in your kitchen! We love you!

Megan and I made our first completely from scratch cake and frosting! We found the recipe in a magazine from my Nana. It was just a classic yellow cake with a chocolate frosting.

Ingredients for the Cake

3 and 1/2 cups all purpose flour, plus more for dusting pans
1 tablespoon plus 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 and 3/4 cups sugar
4 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup milk

Directions for the Cake

Heat over to 325 degrees. Coat two 9 inch baking pans with nonstick cooking spray. Dust with flour and discard excess.

Sift flour, baking powder, and salt into a small bowl.

With an electric mixer set on medium, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, 2 minutes (this is creaming). Beat in eggs, one at a time. Beat in vanilla.

On low speed, alternately beat in flour mixture and milk, beginning and ending with flour. Spread batter into prepared pans, divide equally.

Bake at 325 for 40 to 43 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center of cakes comes out clean. Cool layers in pans on wire racks for ten minutes. Run a thin knife around pan edge and turn out cakes to cool completely on racks.

Ingredients for Milk Chocolate Frosting

4 bars (1.55 ounces each) milk chocolate, broken up (we used 8 ounces of semi sweet chocolate chips, worked perfectly)
1 box (1 pound) confectioners' sugar
6 tablespoons milk
1/4 (1/2) stick unsalted butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt

Directions for Milk Chocolate Frosting

Place chocolate in a small saucepan. Melt over medium-low heat, about 3 minutes (we continuously stirred it to prevent it from burning, I highly recommend doing that). Cool slightly

Combine 1 cup of the confectioners' sugar, them milk, butter, vanilla, and salt in a large bowl. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 1 minute. Add melted chocolate and beat until smooth (we had to reheat the chocolate for just a minute, still stirring continuously on the stove).

Gradually beat in remaining sugar until good spreading consistency.

Use a pastry brush to sweep loose crumb from one cake layer. Place layer, bottom side up, on pedestal. Spread frosting on top layer. Brush loose crumbs from the second layer; stack on first, bottom side down. Secure with skewers (we didn't do that). Then spin the cake around and frost it until you feel it's done.

This recipe is from Family Circle magazine from December 2009.

Mixing!

Checking the recipe.

Cakes pre frosting.

Nana's glamour shot.

Frosting of the cake.

Granted it wasn't the prettiest cake, but it sure tasted good!

I had found these delicious egg "muffin" recipe on Pinterest and I was dying to try it! We tested it out at Nana's and it was very easy and super tasty!

Ingredients for Egg "Muffins"

1/2 onion diced
1/2 tomato diced
Colby Jack Cheese
6 pieces of bacon crumbled
8 large eggs
1/4 cup milk  or 1/4 cup of half and half (we used half and half because we wanted to make sure they weren't runny!)
1/2 tbsp vegetable oil
1/2 tsp baking powder
salt & pepper to taste

Directions for Egg "Muffins"Preheat over to 375
Cook the bacon
Whisk together eggs, milk, oil and baking powder.  Season with salt and pepper.
Lightly spray a 12-cupcake pan with oil, we used cupcake liners and sprayed them lightly but, you can just spray the pan.
Spoon the egg mixture in. We added the "extras" (bacon, tomato, onion) in separately because not everyone wanted it.
Sprinkle Colby Jack cheese on top.
Bake for 15-20 minutes.

You can use any kind of  "extras" in these egg muffins. I think spinach would be delicious in it. Sausage, ham, basically anything you want.

Pre-oven shot.

Post oven shot.

Close up shot, one of the muffins spilled over.

These were so good that my mom and I are going to make them for Christmas brunch.

I also wanted to include a picture of my Nana's flourishing Orchids! They are gorgeous.

If any of you test any of these recipes out, let me know how they turn out!

Merry Christmas Eve and since I won't be posting tomorrow, Merry Christmas!

Makeup and Outfit of the Day 12-22-11

Hello fashionistas!

I went down for a quick visit to my aunt's work with my mom and sister this morning.
This is what I wore for makeup and for my clothing.
The clothing worn in the makeup pictures were pre me getting dressed. I was wearing my diy galaxy shirt when I took these.

Face

MAC matte creme
Benefit Boi-ing Concealer
Maybelline Purestay Powder Foundation in 'ivory'
Physcian's Formula translucent powder
ELF Contouring and Blush duo (bronzer only to contour)
Maybelline mousse blush in 'Cloud Wine'

Eyes

Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin
Kitten eyeshadow mixed with a pale, shimmery mauve shadow all over my lid
Urban Decay's Buck in my crease
Urban Decay's Virgin as my highlight
Covergirl's Lashblast mascara

Lips

MAC Speed Dial lipstick
Covergirl Red Riot Wetslicks lipgloss

I'm convinced that this lip combination makes the perfect, holy grail hot pink lip!
I didn't want to overpower this lip combo, so I stick with a simple pink and brown eye. I think a smokey eye would look good too; for a more formal occasion than just running out and about!

Hair photo.
I quickly ran my straightener over my hair (just to smooth out any lumps from sleeping on it). Then I took a bit of the top layer and pushed it up with a small hair clip. Slipped on a beaded headband from Forever 21 and I was done. Very easy and it dressed my hair up!

Top & Blazer: Kohls Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Shoes: Target Bracelet: local store Necklace: Tiffany & Co. Bag: Ivanka Trump Headband: Forever 21

This was just a very simple, quick outfit. I thought pairing the black with my cream bag created a classy effect.

Hope you enjoyed!

Happy day before Christmas Eve!

Haul- MAC, Sephora, Bath and Body Works, and Gap

Hello fashionistas!

Last night the family and I went to the mall. I had to exchange my gap jim jam (pajama) pants for a different size. Turns out they were almost completely out of all pajamas, so I had to get a different pair. Still, very cute!
As usual I walked away from the mall with more things than I planned on buying.

The loot!

MAC lipstick in the shade 'Speed Dial', it's a cremesheen. A wallflower in the scent 'Salty Caramel' from Bath and Body Works. While there I also purchased a 'pocket bac' in the scent 'Caribbean Escape' and a CO. Bigelow lipgloss in the flavor 'Spiced Vanilla Chai'. Then I wandered down to Sephora and picked up this delicious Body Shop body butter cream in 'Cocount'.

Everything I bought smells divine. I'm in absolute love with the lipgloss. It's like Starbucks on my lips. What's not to love?

Here's a swatch of Speed Dial. I like that it has more of a glossy feel to it than most lipsticks. Definitely a good addition to my ever growing collection.

These were the jim jam pants from Gap that I purchased. An off white with silver, glitter stripes running through them.

Tomorrow my friends, my mom's friends, and my sister's friends are coming over for a little Christmas present exchange party. I came up with the idea that it should be a pajama party, so I'm wearing these. Can't wait to see my girls!

Have a great day!

Room Decor

Hello fashionistas!

I don't know if you remember, but a long time ago (back in August) I told you guys I had redone my room over summer. Well I never got around to posting pictures because I had to have everything finished. There are still a few things that aren't done, for example pictures in my picture frames.

Just wanted to tell you all that you might notice things in different spots and new things; these pictures were taken on two different occasions. Also, sorry for the poor picture quality in some of them, those would be the 'new pictures'. I took them at night on my Iphone and that makes for poor quality!

My bed is the bottom and my sister's is the top. The top is just too warm for me!

My earrings are housed in the white jewelry box.

I thought the two S knobs provided a little uniqueness to my dresser. My sister got her initials on hers'. I was going to have all S knobs, until I remembered mine was double knobs per drawer!

I'm obsessed with Paris.

My sister's desk. I'm obsessed with fashion (as if you all didn't already know that), hence the fashion pictures above her desk. My sister's dresser is to the right.

Sorry for the makeup mirror being on, I was trying to give the picture more light.
My laptop normally sits right in the middle. I get ready here every morning.

Makeup brushes, storage box, pencils, (empty) picture frame, current magazines, and my phone.
Half my makeup brushes are in my travel bag because I was at my Nana's!

Jewelry. My last stop before I walk out the door!
Well, I also stop at my dresser to get earrings.

Currently messy, I seriously need to straighten the bottom cubby up!

I'm all about storing my jewelry in cute places. That's why I love this dress bracelet hanger.
I like having little knickknacks on this table. It just makes it so much more girly.

I keep pictures in this dress jewelry hanger. To the left is my 7th grade picture, me, my grammy, and my cousin Courtney, and then the last picture is me when I was three.

I keep books in the purple basket and next to it. The pink basket holds my colored tank tops. The white basket has all of my neutral colored tank tops. In the black small bin I hold my Victoria Secret sweatpants and in the bin next to that I have clutches, some shoes, and belts. I just need a lot of extra storage and under my bed works perfectly.

I'm a HUGE magazine junkie.. So many issues of Glamour, Elle, and Vogue.

If you want to know where anything is from, feel free to ask me in the comments!

Hope you enjoyed seeing my room.

I hope to do a makeup storage post over break. I'm incredibly happy that it's winter break!

Lots of love!
